God, Your Family, and the Green Bay Packers

There are many quotes attributed to Vince that the coach became famous for having said: "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing." (lots of confusion about that one, by the way, and frequently taken out of context.) There are several others that I enjoy and appreciate, but thought with it being a Sunday game-day again, it would be good to focus on what he told his team should be their priority list for life. Michigan Lights - St Joseph and New Buffalo

St Joseph range lights 9/18/2017 dwm photo New Buffalo is actually the first lighthouse after crossing from Indiana into Michigan, but as my former editors might remind me, that would bury the lead. St. Joseph deserves the top of the blog. When we found a place to park, I checked the electronic parking attendant. The only options were paying for a half-day or whole-day. The lot was nearly empty, and I wouldn't be there a half-hour, so I worked fast. My loss, I didn't walk the pier toward the lights. Joined on the beach by a guy with a metal detector, the second light caught my attention when it came into view. Together the two become range lights. In addition to identifying a safe harbor to boats on the water, the two offer specific instructions. Looking at the lights from the right angle, the lights of the front and lower light will line up exactly with the back, taller beacon. High School Days - Naked and Afraid

Sophomore Year 1978-79 The picture isn't from "my" high school days - but at that time I wouldn't have known what the world wide web, internet, or blogging meant either. Some 10 years before starting high school, we were on a trip (to Nebraska, I think) and while staying at a motel I fell or tried to get from the kiddie pool into the big pool. My recollection is going down through the water until my Dad grabbed my hand and brought me to the surface. A life-long fear of the water resulted. Attending St. Paul was no reason to fear it, but I knew going to high school meant I had to swim. The spring prior to going to J. A. Craig, I spent quite a number of weeks at the YMCA learning how to swim. The lessons seemed to go pretty well. In Craig's Physical Education classes, there were between 60 and 90 students - either boys or girls, divided into three sub-groups based on how well you could swim.
