Visiting Paradise

We had a wonderful experience on our fall vacation in the Upper Peninsula but can you top a night in Paradise?

After a visit to the Whitefish Point Lighthouse complex 12 miles north of town we were looking for something to eat.

We found a nice bar and grill for lunch then checked in at the Magnuson Grand Hotel.

It's a wonderful hotel but it's the view over Whitefish Bay that makes the place truly special. One feature I appreciated was they parked my bike in a storage closet so it didn't take up space in our room.

The only thing missing from the hotel was a fitness center. Then again, why would you need to work out if you're in Paradise?

 We arrived in time to watch the Packers beat the Rams in Los Angeles. During most of the game, my wife was in the pool, which is an alternative she doesn't get most NFL Sundays. Maybe it is Paradise.

 The next morning we got the light show of a lifetime as the sun came up over Lake Superior with a ribbon of clouds acting as a curtain to dress things up as a real star takes the stage.
