My Week that Was - March 28

Saturday and Sunday were quiet, although I did manage to clean and tidy the home office, which turned into its own blog, Caps & Hats.

The basketball tournament played out with eight games on both Saturday and Sunday. This weekend the tournament starts with 16 teams Thursday night.

Monday's drive across town was timed poorly because for a few miles heading east on the Beltline I was driving toward the sun. Since the sun will be rising earlier and earlier every day, it won't be long until I won't need to squint to find a way to watch the road without burning a retina.

Tuesday at Oakwood there was rafter of more than 20 turkeys munching across a grove of trees. It's unusual to see that many turkeys, but it's mating season, so the big birds are worried about other things.

After work, I headed to Madison Computer Works where I picked out a new laptop and dropped off the old one so the programs and the pictures and the shortcuts could be moved to the new one. It takes a little time, but it's better than trying to manage it myself.

Wednesday our team interviewed the first of two candidates for a summer internship. The first candidate made a good first impression and seemed like a good fit. The second candidate met with us Friday. They were both qualified and more than competent, but there were some intangible qualities that had us feeling comfortable with the second person.

Wednesday evening was the last mid-week Lenten worship service. Next week begins Holy Week with Palm Sunday and special services on Maunday Thursday and Good Friday leading to the celebration of Easter Sunday.

Thursday quite a few flowers that get plenty of sun were inching close to unveiling their blossoms. That was one of the day's highlights. They are closer to blooming, but still weren't when I went home Friday.

We held our second Spring Foundation Welcome Lunch and were pleased with a strong turnout. Most of the participants recently moved into independent living apartments.

There was an opportunity to talk with many of our guests and we were able to share some of the ways donors make an impact.

Friday night we had dinner at Adler's, a nice family restaurant nearby. My wife went with the fish fry while I enjoyed their version of a Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich, which was very tasty.

The Milwaukee Brewers opened their season Thursday afternoon with a convincing win over the Chicago White Sox. The two teams took Friday off and resume the three-game series later today. Look for my Brewer Fearless Forecast tomorrow (Sunday, March 29, 2026).

Friday, the Sweet Sixteen was trimmed to Eight before midnight, by Sunday night we'll know which four teams are still standing.

I hope you had a great week! Thanks for reading; I'll be back tomorrow.
