Good-bye 2023!

We didn't completely forget about Covid-19 in 2023, but it was on the back-burner.

My workplace became mask-free by late spring as cases of the virus declined to manageable levels.

At work and at play, life was almost going on like it did in February 2020, pre-Covid.  It felt good.

There remains discontent and rancor in our world and country.  There are a few signs of bipartisanship but it's too early to call it a win.

In terms of resolutions, I've tried to do better listening to other points of view and opinions different than mine.  There is still room for improvement.  The resolution I kept was reading at least five books (see Resolved: 2023).  Just a few weeks ago I posted my sixth book report.  I plan to keep reading in 2024.

One Wisconsin team won a title in 2023, the Badger women's hockey team.  The Wisconsin women's volleyball team was close, making it to their Final Four.  The Packers didn't make it to the play-offs after last season but they have a shot at making this season.  The Bucks fell short but look promising for a championship run in'24.  The Milwaukee Brewers were back in the post-season but didn't advance.  The Brewers have an interesting play-off history, the team that beats Milwaukee has made it to the World Series every time.

The big news in 2023 personally was becoming the Executive Director of the Oakwood Foundation.  I'm nearly 9 months into the role now and still enjoy it while learning something new regularly.

It's been a fast 12-months as time passes faster year after year; here's hoping and praying for a healthy and happy new year!
