Bridges of Indiana's Counties - Vermillion Co. - #87 Newport

The Newport bridge crosses the Little Vermilion River.

The Newport bridge is a few miles northwest of the town that put its name on it.

It is also called the Morehead bridge, but I didn't find any reason for that name.  Presumably, there was a family named Morehead who lived near its location.

The bridge is in a wooded natural area, so it fits the river bottom land where it stands.

The late October day when I took these pictures was spectacular.

The Little Vermilion River winds its way through the trees and under the bridge -  a very quiet spot.

E County Rd 50 N goes right over
the bridge west of Highway 63. (dwm)
The western border of Indiana is rich with bridges.  The three in Vermillion County have neighbors to the north and east, so if you want to do a little bridge hunting on your own, it is a nice place to start.
