Bridges of Indiana's Counties - Putnam Co. - #74 Pine Bluff

Pine Bluff Covered Bridge, Putnam County

It is the second most north covered bridge in Putnam County where it crosses Big Walnut Creek.

The roads to the bridge wind down hill until the bridge is revealed as you drive around a curve where it appears like a door between the trees.

One reference I found credits well-known bridge builder J.A. Britton as the man who brought it together; however, the J.A. Britton Wikipedia page makes no mention it.

In itself, that is unusual, since most bridge builders were sure to leave their name on it someplace... usually over the portal on either end of the bridge!

The two span bridge exceeds two hundred feet over the creek and the valley the water carved out of the countryside.

There are no ghosts and no romantic story about a mysterious photographer connected to the Pine Bluff bridge.

It is just one of the pretty bridges among the more than 40 found in Putnam and Parke Counties.
