I was six when the Milwaukee Brewers played their first season in County Stadium.
My dad took me to my first game when I was in first or second grade and bought me a Brewer ball cap and replica batting helmet.
The Brewers had a few good teams in the late 70s and made it all the way to the World Series against St. Louis in 1982, but lost in seven games. That told us it was possible, but we fell out of the pennant race and didn't return until 2008 when we made it back to the play-offs.
Over the last six years we've been in the running to win the division nearly every year. Last year we were close but were missing the secret sauce.

There was something special about this team all-season. It takes players, management, and coaches working together and the job of winning ahead of personal accomplishments.
Those will come - William Contreras won the Most Valuable Player award and Jacob Misiorowski is expected to be the National League Cy Young Winner - I'm happy for them all and for the entire team that found a way to win.

think we'd ever compete with big teams like the Dodgers and Yankees. The team found players that needed work and coached them up. They found young players and used their talents to build the team through trades and contract management. Most of all, Milwaukee created a culture of winning, a standard of excellence while they built a championship team.
That culture made me believe over the last couple of years that we could compete with the big clubs. Now that we have the trophy, it's great to be celebrate a championship! Go Brewers!
