Summer Leaves, it's Autumn Now!

It was only yesterday that I realized autumn was two days away. That may be because fall seemed to be in the distant future.

 

Just ten days ago, I noticed orange creeping around a tree next to the South Yahara Trail. In another week few weeks, we'll likely be close to the peak of fall color.

 

Autumn is my favorite season. One abiding memory is walking across the Drake University campus watching the leaves blow and listening to the crunch and rustling as the breeze lifted some leafs into the air.

 

From here, the rest of my bike season will be defined by falling temperatures and the week to week drift from summer to fall to winter.

 

Fall is the season for warm drinks and the time for a comfortable sweatshirt or hoodie. It can be fun to take a hayride or take a drive to see the magnificent colors on display. 

 

Autumn reminds us to exchange the warmth of summer for the warmth of gathering with family and friends.
