My Week that Was - September 5

 My plan was to get out early and return home with a lot of miles before it was supposed to rain.

 The last hour of the ride I felt raindrops but they weren't enough to get me wet. I don't think you could even describe it as sprinkles. A few hours later we did get measurable rain, which was needed.

 The Milwaukee Brewers traveled to Chicago to play four games against the Cubs in Wrigley Field. The first game was all Chicago, 17 - 3. That's OK, games go like this sometimes, and this year Milwaukee generally has dusted themselves off, stood up, and played better the next time. 

The Brewers had an 8-game lead in the National League Central before Monday's game. It's a big league with a month to play, but with these two teams, I'd like to see Milwaukee win four of the seven games the teams will play between August 31 and September 9. Do that, and fans can be reasonably sure the Brew Crew will win another Division title. It's nice but this team has bigger goals.

Tuesday, the Brewers and Cubs played game two at Wrigley Field. The Cubs took a lead, but Milwaukee battled back. They overcame a couple defensive miscues and got clutch hits from Christian Yelich and William Contreras; third baseman Joey Ortiz hit one out as the Crew won 9 - 4 and pushed their lead back to eight.  

It's been a good week at work. Our donor newsletter is ready to print and then distributed to the Oakwood Foundation's generous donors. We also have a couple events coming up at the end of the month, we sent out invitations Wednesday. After work, I took the flat from last week to Farm & Fleet to get it fixed. Thankfully the punctured tire was in good shape in spite of the hole, but after a technician fixed it, it's ready to roll.

The Cubs - Brewers series in Chicago played the third of four games Wednesday. Lots of hits and not much pitching prowess on this night, even with Milwaukee's ace, Misiorowski throwing the ball. He only made it through four innings. Half-way through the game the Brewers led the Cubs, 6 - 5 and they expanded the lead before winning the second of three.

The last game in Chicago was a tight game with the Cubs holding off Milwaukee 2 - 1. The series feels like a Brewer win, they came in with a eight game lead and left with an 8-game advantage in the National League Central. The Brewers play the next three in Cincinnati against the Reds, then return home for three games against the Cubs.

Friday I packed up a few items in the office and took them home. The plan is to move into a new office in the Business Center at the end of next week. I thought it would be good to bring home things hanging on the wall and a small Christmas tree that sitting in a cabinet. The rest of the stuff will go to the new space.

It's been hot and humid most of the week but the forecast is promising temperatures and humidity will drop. Whatever the weather, I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. Thanks for reading.
