Whether it's a trip around the world or around your state; going to new places is good for you.
I've only left the United States a few times. As a kid, our family made a couple trips into Canada, and I went back to Canada with my dad when he was taking a business trip.
While working in South Dakota, I was assigned to travel with a delegation of the Governor to Panama and Honduras to observe the National Guard.
The last time out of the country was in 2006. My Dad and I took my oldest son on a baseball trip visiting several cities, including Detroit. After watching a game in Tiger Stadium we decided to cross into Windsor, Canada and return over the Ambassador Bridge. This was after 9/11, but before passports were required for U.S. citizens to either get into Canada or return to America.

Dad had a miniature version of his birth certificate on him, but my son and I just had driver's licenses. I don't recall what finally convinced him we were legit, but we were and headed straight to the next stop on our trip.
Recently, a lot of our travels are near the water as we add lighthouses to our collection of photographs. It's fun traveling the Great Lakes and enjoying nature.
My passport expired several years ago, but there's a lot of the United States left to see. Happy Trails!
