My Week that Was - May 30

The week started with breakfast at the Prairie Cafe, it was the first time we've visited in weeks.

We had several things to do when we got home, but the phone rang and my wife was on her way to the hospital to meet her latest clients and an expected baby.

Late Saturday morning I stopped at McDonald's for a burger before reporting to the Volunteer tent at Brat Fest. Follow the link for the post.

I signed in, received a shirt, and joined a growing group around a man in an orange shirt. He had gloves and litter-pickers for us, then showed us how to handle the stations used for recycling, composting, or sent to the landfill.

I got home around 4, cleaned up and settled in front of the TV. It was a surprise when I read a text from my wife saying she was coming home after the shortest labor she's had so far.

Sunday was exciting with the Indianapolis 500 race and a Brewer game. The race comes once a year, so I watched more of it than the game.

When we lived in Indianapolis, I had an opportunity to ride my bike around the Indianapolis Speedway. It was so hot and humid I only reached 50 miles before being completely exhausted. 15 years later, I still vividly recall that once in a lifetime experience.

Monday was the Memorial Day holiday, so I kept alive the streak of riding every weekend

It's another short work week, Tuesday through Friday. We have an intern coming on board next week who will join us for the summer. It's a first for us, but we agreed after an interview this person was the one for the job. We finally wrapped up our mid year appeal letter, it should be in mailboxes next week.

Thursday was an off day in the gym. Most days are routine with a 30 minute run on the treadmill. Every so often, I get up to speed but don't have the endurance. I suspect it has to do with what I ate the night before, or it could be fatigue. In any case, it's usually a one-off and I'm back at it the next day.

Friday morning I was back to normal, in the gym anyway, having no issue with the three mile run. That felt good. The rest of the day went well. Two meetings and a few phone calls while also working on a list of topics for future newsletters.

It was quiet day in the office after lunch and with a beautiful day was beckoning my boss decided it was an excellent time to head home early. That was a nice way to end the week.

I hope you had a great week, be sure to enjoy the next one!
