Tour the Great Lakes

One of my favorites from the Ohio shoreline. 10/6/2025 dwm

The first lighthouse I photographed was the Cana Island light in Door County, Wisconsin back in 2013. At the time, I didn't know lighthouses were going to become 'a thing.'

After the Cana Island light, there were more  to shoot in Door County and the North Point lighthouse in Milwaukee.

There were quite a few on Wisconsin's Lake Michigan shoreline, then the state of Michigan itself, which borders Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior. We drove up to the North Shore to get the lighthouses between Duluth and Grand Marais, Minnesota, then recently, worked our way up Lake Erie in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The next trip should finish the lighthouses along the Erie shoreline of New York, all the way to Buffalo.

Before that trip, a trip to Chicago in February allowed me to walk to Navy Pier where there were five lights in 'shooting range.'

Last weekend, I added those to the developing Tour of the Great Lakes Lighthouses, 156 and counting! You can watch the video below.
