My Week that Was - April 11

We watched the movie on Amazon Prime.
I felt better Saturday morning than the day before, and a lot better than I did on Thursday. I was hungry,
which seemed like a good sign, after not being able to keep stuff down just 48 hours earlier. The Prairie Cafe served up my usual breakfast

Saturday was when we made the call on venturing out Easter Sunday. I was still coughing, but not as much as my bride. We agreed it wouldn't be comfortable for people around us at church or at the restaurant for post-service brunch. We watched Easter Sunday service via live stream.

One treat we had last weekend was watching Song, Sung, Blue. I had heard good things, but it was better than I expected. If you haven't seen it, it is on several streaming services and on demand. It's a compelling story of two singers trying to catch a break when they see each other perform and decide to combine their talent in creating a Neil Diamond tribute band.

Even if you don't like Neil Diamond, I bet you'll enjoy the story and movie. In addition to some popcorn, don't forget the tissues, either.

Tuesday was election day. On the ballot in Wisconsin was a race between two candidates for the state's Supreme Court as well as local races. In Verona city officials, judges, and members of the school board were on the ballot. Only two races were contested.

A little later, I went to the dentist to have some work done on my teeth. He removed the old filling from the tooth and replaced the material. Of course, during that what was left of the tooth's outer layer was removed. They took a cast of the tooth's exterior and used that as a temporary crown. I go back for the permanent crown in two weeks.

There wasn't much pain thanks to the numbing jell before the shot of novocaine. The left side of my mouth had no feeling for a couple hours. It wasn't bad except when I tried to drink a glass of water. It didn't go well.

My new bike jersey arrived Wednesday, it's my fourth. My first one was for the GRABAAWR (GReat Annual Bicycle Adventure Along the Wisconsin River) ride from the headwaters of the Wisconsin River to where it empties into the Mississippi River next to Prairie du Chien.

The second I bought was a Leinenkugel's jersey with a label from one of their beer bottles on top of a Wisconsin road map. My sister gave me a nice long-sleeve jersey with the Wisconsin State Seal on it. It gets a lot of use early and late in the bike season.

The Leinie's jersey is scratchy now, but it is almost 20 years old, so that could be a reason. I've had my eye on a jersey for the Ride Across Wisconsin for a while now, and finally pulled the trigger. I'm looking forward to wearing it.

Friday a very heavy bench was delivered to Oakwood's University Woods campus. It's four-feet long, three-feet across, and weighs 1.5 tons.

The bench has a bronze plaque on the front honoring a supporter whose generosity made our outdoor rehabilitation park possible.

It was a long week. I'm feeling better, a week after getting sick. Other than an occasional cough, I'm still getting back my wind and fitness back. I hope you're doing well, thanks for reading!
