Ohio Covered Bridges - Creek Road

The Creek Road Covered Bridge crosses Conneaut Creek between two bluffs that create a 25-foot gap between the water and the bridge.

According to Bridge Hunter, which I've used to learn more about some bridges says the Creek Road bridge was built in 1880, but Wikipedia says it's construction date is  unknown.

There wasn't much room to park on the east side of the bridge, but we found space and then noticed a path down to the water where I got the photo at left.

The single span bridge was refurbished in 1994.

Historian Carl E. Feather writes that an announcement seeking builders to submit a bid to build a new bridge over Conneaut Creek was in the Ashtabula Weekly Telegraph newspaper in 1871. That provides context for a build date around 1880.

The bridge was closed in 1963 when an ice jam damaged the bridge's support pier. When work was done in 1994, that support was changed to redirect the flow of the creek.
