It's an Olympic Year, with the Winter Games held in Italy over three weeks from February 6th to the 22nd.
It's an election year too, as most even-numbered years are, although we don't elect a president this year, there will be potential candidates from both parties trying to get our attention..
Wisconsin elects a governor in November, so that chatter will pick up soon. Tony Evers is finishing his second term and will hand the office to his successor. As a purple state, elections are usually close in the Dairy state.
I didn't make any resolutions for 2025 beyond reading five books. Speaking of, a resident asked me a question Wednesday, "What does a crying baby in church and a New Year's resolution have in common?"
The answer: "They both should be carried out." It's interesting that I'm still waiting for an e-book I placed on hold last January. I hope it becomes my first book to read in 2026.
Changing the world is a difficult task, but each of us can make an effort to be more friendly; look for ways to help others; and listen to different points of view. We don't have to agree but one way to make our world better is by finding ways to get along. That's a tough resolution to keep, but it is worth the effort.
Happy 2026!
