My primary purpose was to set up and play the videos which supplemented her teaching and to record some of the class which will lead to another certification of her work as doula.
One of the dads who came to the class works with bikes and wanted to see my recumbent, so I rode 1.5 miles to the Verona library. I enjoy showing off the bike and explaining why I like it. I'm pretty sure I won't need to do that if I help with classes in the future.
The Green Bay Packers didn't cloak themselves in glory Sunday night after battling to a game tied at 40. When I wrote my preseason forecast, I thought something would go wrong and the Packers would lose the first game of their season. The loss happened a week earlier, but for many fans, a tie against a team you expected to beat handily, seems like a loss.
When the schedule came out, having the fifth week off didn't seem like a great idea. As it turns out, the whole team needs to sort some things out and get on the same page to reach their potential.
It's been a busy week at work. We are in grant season which has a series of steps in the process of receiving requests, evaluating the application, and then presenting the grants to the Board for approval. I feel better about the process this year and think it will be easier for the board to understand what is being presented.
The writing projects just keep coming down the line. The biggest step is usually the first, finding what to emphasize, then present a compelling case for support.
Wednesday's lunch was different than usual. It's informally organized by sending calendar requests to various people at work extending an invitation to meet at 12 at a nearby restaurant. I accepted the invitation and arrived at noon. The seven of us all knew each other but we've not gotten together socially, so it was fun and a nice change of pace.
Thursday I had an appointment on our east campus which means driving across the city on the Beltline. It's usually the fastest way to get from one side of the city to the other, but there are also a fair number of drivers who think speed limits don't apply to them.
As I was driving east in the center lane, suddenly a car appeared coming up fast in the right lane. He (I don't know if it was a male driving, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't) then cut across the center to reach the left lane. It looked like he was going to take my left tail light with him, forcing me to react by swinging over into the right line as the car shot past. This car was doing at least 80, probably close to 90. He kept weaving from lane to lane until he was out of sight. Thankfully, that's not an everyday event, at least not in my experience.
It was a good week and next week looks to have some adventures in it.
Thanks for reading!
