That's Why They Play the Games

Green Bay was anointed by several football prognosticators as a legitimate Super Bowl contender based on dominant wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders. Their fourth game is a nationally televised game on the last Sunday of September against the Dallas Cowboys.

The same Cowboys who traded their best defensive player to the Packers just before the season started. It was a game many fans couldn't wait to see.

But looking ahead to week four deflected attention for fans from game 3, on the road in Cleveland.

I'm not sure if that's what happened to the Packer players, but that will likely come up after Green Bay lost to the Cleveland Browns after giving up a 10 -0. In 37 seconds, the Browns scored a field goal and after intercepting Packer quarterback Jordan Love for the first time this season, Cleveland scored a tying touchdown.

The Packers didn't seem to be on top of things like they did in the first two contests with more than 10 penalties called against them. After all that, the Packers had the ball and lined up the winning field goal with 25 seconds to play when the Browns blocked it, and then got into position to win it themselves, which they did. Congratulations to the Browns.

You would have had a hard time finding someone to pick Cleveland to win the game beforehand because the Packers had it all going their way until they didn't.

The loss will likely be used as a wake-up call and the Packers will show up ready for Dallas.

After a pro-longed hot streak in June, July, and August the Brewers came back to earth while their division rival, Chicago Cubs, got hot a once dominant 9-game lead shrunk to 5. Thankfully Chicago cooperated by losing a few and Milwaukee picked up key wins, the Brewers clinched the National League Central Division title Sunday afternoon when Chicago lost to the Reds.

The Milwaukee Brewers had a nice lead on the Philadelphia Phillies two weeks ago, but going into tonight's (9/23/25) games, the Brewers have a lead with two road games and a three-game series left at home to finish the regular season.

The Cincinnati Reds coming in may factor into the battle for best record in baseball because Cincinnati is battling to be the third Wild Card qualifier in the National League

From what I'm reading, the Brewers magic number to earn home-field advantage in the play-offs through the World Series over the Phillies is any combination of Brewer wins and Philadelphia losses that equal 3.  I hope they get one of those wins tonight, go Brewers!
