My Week that Was - September 20

Early fall color. 9/14/2025 dwm
It rained Saturday, making it one of very few Saturdays when I kept my bike in the garage. The weather cleared up a few hours after an early morning rain but with the Wisconsin Badgers playing Alabama at 11, I decided to ride Sunday and watch the game.

The result wasn't surprising as Alabama laid the wood to Bucky in a 38 - 14 win.  The B1G season starts Saturday with a home game against Maryland. A win over the Terrapins might make fans feel better as this is seen as a rebuilding season with one of the toughest schedules in college football.

If the Badgers can win 5 games this year, it would demonstrate progress over last year's performance. There are plenty of games left to improve.

Sunday after church I got out for a quick ride. It's been an incredible season to ride, the last weekend I didn't get out and ride was April 26 and 27.  That's 23 weeks, and counting.

Over the weekend I started signing birthday cards. It's something I can do while watching a game. Now that it's football season, it's even easier as I can add a couple sentences to a card between plays.

It's been a busy week - trying to finish an appeal so it can be mailed; there was a board meeting Thursday; and we decided how to arrange our new office.

For the first time in several weeks, I used a day of paid time off. It was nice. I didn't sleep in, but I did go to the gym 30-minutes later than usual and with no schedule to worry about, went home 90-minutes later.

Thursday morning I noticed the driver's side headlight on my car wasn't working, so I dropped it off to get the light replaced. I think there should be a law that car headlights should be designed so ordinary humans can change it themselves. These days, it sometimes requires removing something under the hood before the light can be changed.

Friday afternoon, I joined a friend on a ride around Madison. Rain is forecast for the weekend, but we had a window in the weather to ride and get home before we got too wet. You can read about the ride in Sunday's post.

Here's wishing you a very happy week!
