Team Streak 2

Mets @ Milwaukee. 8/10/25 dwm
I laughed when William Contreras hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth Sunday to put the Brewers up 2 to 1. It was what the Brew Crew had been doing for more than two weeks.

But this time, when Milwaukee was in the field in the bottom of the 9th, we put their lead-off on first when Brice Turang couldn't handle a ground ball and get the first out. That hitter came around to tie things up, but the potential winning run didn't make it home.

The Brewer magic ran out in the 10th when they couldn't score and the Reds did to end the Brewer win streak at 14. It was a great streak and this team is still the best team in baseball until it's proven otherwise.

An important five-game series started yesterday with a split doubleheader against the Cubs with the Brewers holding an 8 and a half game lead. They ended up playing one game, a resounding win for Milwaukee, 7 - 0 in the first game. That expanded the Brewer advantage to 9 games in the National League Central. Game two was postponed to Tuesday afternoon after there was too much rain to play Monday night. The Cubs won the Tuesday afternoon game, reducing the Brewer lead to 8.

Tonight's game, and the games tomorrow and Thursday are the final four match-ups of the season with the Cubs. This series will say about Milwaukee's pedigree and whether or not Chicago has a good chance to reach the post-season as a Wild Card.

Getting the first win is a big advantage, if they build on it with a win Tuesday afternoon (they didn't), they would be ten games up.

No matter what happens, Milwaukee will be leading the division Thursday night.  I'd love to see them extend their lead, but if they win two of the five, the margin will still be 7 games. Let's go Brewers!
