Thankfully, the rest of the day was calm with time to relax, read, and watch TV.
The three-day weekend finished Sunday like it began on July Fourth, with a movie.
Mission Impossible - Final Reckoning was very good! While the movie is nearly three hours long, the action is non-stop. If I was going to compare it another film, it would be Indiana Jone and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I've been going to Sport Clips for years, at least 20, and on nearly every visit since they ask if I'm a 2 or a 3. What the number meant, I didn't know. I just hoped I wasn't being judged on a scale of 1 to 10.
Until this last Monday when the stylist asked if I was a 2 or 3, and I asked what it meant. I thought it referred to the clippers. That wasn't it, the number is the length of hair on the top of the head after a hair cut. It was as if a curtain opened and I could see what was happening behind the scenes.
Tuesday was busy. I was finalizing the layout an upcoming newsletter then sent it to the print house. There were phone calls to handle; two meetings; and a donor visit. There was also confusion with an invoice.
Through the first two days I didn't make many out-going calls but that changed Wednesday with 20 calls.
Wednesday the Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are one of the best teams in baseball with a payroll over $300-million dollars on opening day, while the Brewers had $108 million invested in their 26 players on the first day.
Winning three games in a row isn't remarkable, but it is a big-deal when it's the first time ever sweeping the Dodgers at home. When you consider the outstanding pitching Milwaukee started in the three games. Freddy Peralta, Jacob Misiorowski, and Jose Quintana the future looks bright.
It doesn't mean the Brewers will win the World Series but this team is willing to fight for each other and do whatever is necessary to go all the way.
Thursday we had a food truck called Roost on campus with chicken tenders and sandwiches and a variety of sauces ranging from mild to hot. They also make good fried cheese curds.

Friday we drove to Eau Claire for the Ride Across Wisconsin.
Funny thing, this year the Ride Across Wisconsin is limited to three counties, Buffalo, Eau Claire and Trempealeau. The prior three routes did, indeed cross the state.
This year offers two routes, 100 miles and 180. 180 miles is a few more than the first RAW ride from Dubuque, Iowa to Kenosha. The second and third RAW rides started from La Crosse with destinations of Green Bay and Milwaukee.
More than 900 cyclists signed up, 300 opting for the really long trip. I plan on doing 100. I'm sure I make 180 but doubt I would enjoy the last 20 or 30 miles.
I hope you have a great week - stay tuned for more on RAW 2025.
