My Week that Was - June 28

 After a 5 am ride Saturday morning, I changed clothes so I wouldn't miss visiting the gym. I didn't stay long, just a 15-minute walk on the treadmill so I could count it as a visit.

 All of that was to get ahead of the heat on the first real hot day of the year. The rest of Saturday and Sunday were spent inside with air conditioning.

 On my way to work Monday something unusual happened. I was on a stretch of Interstate 39/90 that runs north and south on Madison's east side. I was in the outside lane with the usual traffic in the two lanes left of me.

 Seemingly out of nowhere, I saw what looked like a part off a tractor trailer bouncing across the interstate at highway speed destined to hit me. There wasn't much I could do to avoid it so I kept driving as it hit the rear passenger door, leaving a streak on the door, and a sharp edge gouged a two inch hole in the corner of the frame.

It could have been worse. Whatever it was might have been heavier or been caught under the car. I don't know where it went after it hit my car, hopefully it just bounced off the road.

Jacob Misiorowski is a new starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. The 23-year old rookie won his first two games in dominant fashion and he is unlike any pitcher Milwaukee ever had.

He's 6'7" and throws the ball 102 miles per hour! Wednesday he was matched against Paul Skenes, another fireballer who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates. 

The Miz out-pitched Skenes in this one as Milwaukee put up 4 runs in the second inning and won the game. 

Three wins doesn't put anyone in the Hall of Fame but it's fun to imagine what he might do if he reaches his potential!

 Friday offered a nice respite with a trip to Prairie du Chien. It's s short drive and when we had west on U.S. Highway 18 we usually stop at Rural Route 1 Popcorn in Montfort.

 The company makes its products there along with a retail store and gift shop. While I'm not a big popcorn guy, I do like the Chicago mix of cheese and carmel covered popcorn. I left with two bags!

 There will be more about the trip over the next few days.

 It was the right way to end the week, relaxed and refreshed. I hope your new week is off to a good start!
