I skipped the gym Saturday so I could get the bike on the car and get to Janesville for the Morning Rotary Club's fundraising bike ride.
I pumped the tires, picked up the long-sleeve t-shirt to remember the ride, then after locking the car headed down the trail. I had a great time, if you missed the blog about the ride, click here.
Sunday was quiet. After church, we did some re-arranging of the living room, but that was it, allowing me to see the Brewers win at home over the rival St. Louis Cardinals.
Monday was busy, I had four donor visits, including one with a new couple who recently moved in.
Tuesday I met with two artists about a mural. It was originally going to be part of the recently finished Agility Park but was saved to be a late addition. There are some complications with the wall we want to use, but from what I learned there are ways of working around them.
Wednesday was fun, because there was an ice cream social for residents and staff on the University Woods campus. There were lots of smiles all around and gallons of ice cream to choose from - butter pecan, chocolate chip mint, moose tracks, rainbow sherbet, and vanilla. Several of us walked to the social from our offices and all of us chose moose tracks. Yum!

I rode clockwise around Lake Monona for the 13th ride of the year with extra miles tacked on with a longer route to the lake and riding part of the South Yahara trail 2.5 miles before heading home.
Most notable on this ride was seeing an Indigo Bunting on the ride. It was on the Capital City trail in a rural area standing in the shade on the trail. Thankfully it let me get close enough to see its features. I don't know that I've ever seen an Indigo Buntings before, so it's a first.
Just a few weeks ago I passed a sign while riding around the lake that needed to be included in this blog. At the top of an ordinary hill, it required effort but it's not a 'character building' hill by any means; however, it was named Mt. Winnequah because it's close to the city park of the same name. It's less than half the height of Wisconsin's highest point, that's Timm's Hill, measuring 1,951.5 feet in Price County.

around the lake, there were a good number of people, mostly kids, but plenty of adults, taking part in organized games, or something on the side. It reminded me of summers growing up in Janesville where high school kids organized games or handed out the knock-hockey sticks so we could play one-on-one hockey on hand-crafted game board.
Late yesterday morning, after we got back from breakfast and picking up some things at the store, I signed five dozen September birthday cards. Envelopes are printed at the end of each quarter, then paired with a card and sent to our office. My goal is to sign three months of cards before the new quarter begins.
Yesterday was also the start of summer. It arrived at 9:42 pm Central time, so if you missed the seasonal blog post last evening, here it is. You won't notice much difference, but daylight Saturday will be a second shorter than Friday.
We've had enough of spring, I hope you're ready for a cracker-jack summer time! Thanks for reading.
