My guess is those circles are not found in Wisconsin because it's not uncommon to have measurable snow during May! That's very unlike summer.
As a kid, growing up on Garfield Avenue in Janesville, I would gather flowers and deliver them to neighboring houses where I'd hang them on the door, ring the bell, and run.
You didn't run to avoid being caught, but so the recipient wondered who gave them something. You could deliver candy or another kind of treat, but the idea was to put cheer in the lives of neighbors and friends.
If you need ideas on how to celebrate May Day, the folks responsible for the National Day calendar website provided 7 ideas:
1. Dance around a May pole or with someone near you
2. Plant flowers
3. Make a crown of flowers - extra points if you use dandelions and violets.
4. Fill a basket with flowers
5. Deliver flower bulbs for neighbors to plant
6. Make a May Day basket.
7. Share your creation and dance on social media.
Happy May Day!!
