My Week that Was - April 12

First ride on this bike was to the shop. 4/5/25 dwm

After working on the garage Saturday morning, I took the bike over to Atkins for a tune-up. One of the things they offer is a steam-cleaning which really gets your bike looking its best. It's worth the $20, and it's something I can't do at home.

The recumbent survived 2024 without a tune-up, but I don't like going too long without it getting some professional attention.

As the technician looked at over when I brought it in, he thought the disc brakes might need some work. While it didn't seem to effect my riding, while walking the bike I heard a sporadic rub with the back wheel, so that will be corrected.

Monday night college basketball finished its season with the biggest game, the championship. The game started nearly 30 minutes earlier than years past, which meant the game ended before 11 central time. That's not bad, when we lived in the eastern time zone, these games ended after midnight. At this point in my life, it would have to be one of my favorite teams to stay awake until the end.

Tuesday was the ninth pizza party of the year on our east campus, that leaves two on deck. One is next week, the last one is in May.

Wednesday I heard from the bike shop; the brakes were fine but they did recommend a new chain and new gears. It will cost more than I expected but when it's repaired I'll have a new drive train.

Bucky and the drum major in the finale.
Thursday I had three donor visits. The first two were with people   I've gotten to know over several years. We talked about their interests and the projects donors are funding this year. Thursday was also the last day of my work week as I used some paid time off on April 11.

Friday I picked up the bike from the shop and headed down the Military Ridge Trail for a loop around Lake Monona. I'll have more on that in Sunday's blog.

That evening, we planned to see the Badger Varsity Band Show, but my wife wasn't feeling well and coughing so much she thought it might be distracting. It wasn't as fun going alone, but yes, she was OK with that, but it was a good time. I'll have more on their concert on Tuesday.

That's it for my busy week, thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful week!
