My Bracket

After the first two rounds, I've lost 7 of my Sweet Sixteen. 3/24/25 dwm

After the first weekend of the college basketball tournament, I lost seven teams I had advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. The good news is that of the nine teams I had right, seven of my Elite Eight and all of my Final Four are still in the bracket.

The left side of the bracket has the most damage.

In the West, Florida was the only Sweet Sixteen I had right. In the South, I had half the Sweet Sixteen right but I have those two meeting in the Elite 8.

On the right side of the bracket, I am only missing two of the Sweet Sixteen but all four of the Elite Eight.

My Sweet Sixteen to Final Four. 3/24/25 dwm
A year ago, I had half of the Sweet Sixteen correct but only two of the Elite Eight.

It's an interesting exercise. Out of the 24.4 million brackets entered in ESPN's Men's Tournament Challenge, there are no perfect brackets after two rounds, including none of my three.

My first picks, which I'm showing here, ranks 13.5 million out of all the bracket, with just 43% of the games picked correctly.

In reviewing predictive brackets from past years, 2025 appears to be my best effort yet in terms of teams still alive but with two weekends left of college hoops, I expect to lose many of them.

We'll see what happens when the ball is tipped Thursday night.
