A Bird Outside

When you travel, you will meet several folks for the first time.

On February 10, the first day of the fundraising conference I attended in Myrtle Beach, I was working on my laptop when I heard a bird call.

When I turned to my right, there he/she was seeming to look at me and my room. She didn't say anything more, just kept looking.

It didn't change it's position and it didn't flinch when I stood or moved around on the other side of the clear patio doors, getting as close as just the other side of the glass, four feet at best away from the gull.

A day earlier, I was on the beach (which you can see in the background) to get pictures of the sunrise and was busy eating a blueberry muffin I bought from the hotel's coffee shop. It was a messy operation with a lot of crumbs falling.

When I moved a few feet from the tidbits, a half dozen swooped in to clean them up. Perhaps this was one of the free-loaders checking to see if I was going to feed them again.

The gull was patient, it stayed in the same spot on the rail for more than 30-minutes, then left without a peep, maybe to peer into another hotel room. Bye, bye, birdie!
