this on the day it published, we're holding an open house celebrating our 40th anniversary. I'll write about it in an upcoming post.
Saturday morning we stopped at the floral shop that's delivering flowers for the event to finalize arrangements and make our final payment. There were a few small items that we still needed to purchase but by and large, everything should be ready to go when Saturday dawns.
The weekend was the last to watch multiple football games for a while. The NFL had two Divisional play-off games on Saturday and Sunday while college football ended it's season the later than any other year with a championship game Monday night with Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Saturday, the last NFC North team and Packer rival, Detroit was rolled over by the visiting Washington Commanders while Kansas City beat Houston to reach their eighth straight AFC championship game tomorrow (January 26). While on one level it's nice to see a team like Detroit find success, it was nice to see them pushed off the field.
In the last college football game of the season, Ohio State beat Notre Dame to win the title. It was a convincing win and might even make some Buckeye fans forget they didn't beat that school up north four years in a row.
Tuesday I left the car with the Toyota service department to figure out why a set of four warning lights were trying to get my attention. The good news is that I don't have brake problems but an issue with the sensors built to warn of system trouble. After the work I know what it will cost to fix at the car's next appointment.
I've had the car more than ten years now. It has nearly 110,000 miles, just over 10,000 miles a year, which is a much slower pace than I've usually put miles on a car. That's mainly because my car isn't the family driver anymore, with fewer miles on it, I might drive this another ten years.
Thursday was the end of my work week. You would think three days would fly by, but Tuesday felt like last week by the time I was in the office Thursday morning. We're in the finishing stretch of preparing gift summaries and their cover letters. The plan is to assemble, stuff, and seal before delivering them to mailboxes on campus and in the mail.

Most of the work is finished, most of us are heading to the venue this morning to set things up. My job is picking up the day's cake (it will resemble our original wedding cake) and delivering it safely. It should be fun, I'll write a post on it Tuesday.
Thanks for reading, have a wonderful week.
