Short stack of pancakes at Golden Nest. 11/16/24 dwm |
Saturday morning we returned to the Golden Nest in Sun Prairie to join our son and daughter-in-law with one of their friends for breakfast.
They make a nice breakfast and serve it beautifully. However, the thing everyone remembers are the robot servers.
They look like a kitchen cart your grandma may had had with a top and lower tray, except these can find their way to the customer's table without hitting chairs, tables, or people.
We enjoyed watching the show of bots, with names like Bobby and Expo, but were slightly disappointed when two people delivered our order.
Breakfast was delicious. We got there just before 9. Less than 10 minutes after we sat down there was a more than a dozen people waiting.
The Wisconsin Badgers had the opportunity of a lifetime, hosting the top team in the country as new B1G member Oregon visited Camp Randall. The Ducks won, but the Badgers made them earn it. There are no moral victories, but after an embarrassing loss to Iowa two weeks prior, it was good to see the team fight to the end with a chance to win.
Two games left for Bucky - they need a win to qualify for a bowl trip and to avoid a losing record - wins at Nebraska and back home against Minnesota would certainly make coaches and players feel better about the second year of the Luke Fickell era.
A couple hours after writing the paragraphs about the Badgers, Coach Luke Fickell announced that the offensive coordinator was fired Sunday morning.
When the original coaching staff was introduced, there were hopes of Wisconsin throwing the ball more under an "Air Raid" offense. That flight is in the hanger, at least for now, it will be interesting to see where the team lands next.
Sunday afternoon smelled like a dangerous game for Green Bay. The Packers had beaten Chicago 10 straight times. The Bears looked terrible in three consecutive losses coming in and had just fired their offensive coordinator. The Bears came out firing and were ready to win it on a last second field goal when the Packer's Karl Brooks cut between the left guard and center to get a finger on the kicked ball. His block saved the day and the game. Packers won 20 - 19! Whew!
Monday was the turning point for our database as we stopped entering data into the old constituent relationship management software to start clean with a new system next week. It also brought rain, some forecasters expect we'll get more than an inch. That probably doesn't end the drought but it helps.
Wednesday I had lunch with a friend and colleague whose last day was Friday. We worked in the same office my first three years and when she moved to a different department we stayed in touch. Her attention to detail, institutional knowledge, and abilities will be missed.
Madison was snow-dusted Thursday. dwm |
One would think that we'd be used to driving in snow since we live in Wisconsin. There are quite a few who do quite well, but there are always accidents involving drivers who think they can drive on snow like they do on dry pavement.
Friday was the end of another busy week. There will be five more before we ring in 2025. I hope you have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving.
