Dining Out on the Straits

A whitefish filet at Darrow's. 10/9/24 dwm
We ate lunch at Darrow's Family restaurant October 9th. This place was one of our favorites when we visited in 2017.

I had a whitefish that had been swimming in Lake Superior two days earlier, it was excellent. The home-style meal was delicious.

The restaurant started as a modest drive-in then as succeeding generations took over it became a nice sit-down family diner. It will make you feel good.

After spending a few hours in Mackinaw, we drove across the Mackinaw bridge to St. Ignace.

Clyde's Drive In. 10/9/24 dwm
That evening, we heeded the call to Clyde's for an old-fashioned drive-in experience.

We onion rings. I had a burger and a root beer. It was good 'ol drive-in fare. You shouldn't eat like that every night but there's nothing wrong with a fun meal every so often

A car-hop took good care of us, bringing out a tray to hang on the driver's window. When it was time to leave I turned on the headlights, which is the way to communicate these things, then we drove back into town.

There are lots of places to eat around the Straits of Mackinaw, you could do a lot worse than eating with the families of  Darrow and Clyde.
