Take A Penny - Leave a Penny Day

I wrote about an experience at Kwik Trip in 2017 commending the 'Leave a penny/Take a penny' tray at the store.

Today is National Take a Penny/Leave a Penny day - in honor of the tradition and the act of being kind to strangers and paying it forward - here is my blog from October 20, 2017.

Take a penny, leave a penny.

Monday morning, the 32 ounce Big Buddy of Tea came to $1.04.  I had no change.  At all.

Julie, on the other side of the register, looked at the two singles in my hand and said, "That's OK." Then picked 4 coins out of the overturned cup lid.

It was very nice.  It was also nice not to receive 96 cents of change back on my purchase.

Leave a penny, two, or three behind from your change and it will help someone.  It might be a kid 3 cents short of buying a candy bar or a harried businesswoman with a hot cup of coffee in one hand and a $20 in the other.

You and I can't fix the world a few pennies at a time, but you might make somebody's day better.

Someone out there sure made mine.

Thank you. Penny.
