Saturday I was up early but didn't head to the gym, instead I drove to Monroe where I prepared for the Tour de Cheese ride (see more on it here in case you missed it).
After the ride, I headed home with stops for a chocolate shake and several miles later, a pork tenderloin sandwich, eager for a cool shower after a long, sun-soaked bike ride.
Sunday was quiet. After church we picked up a few things at the store then returned home. It was another hot and humid day. I got the trash and recycling containers to the curb, then headed inside.
I watched the Packers Family Night practice on the digital video recorder - there was a cool moment when between practice sessions an eleven year-old boy caught one punt, then held it while catching a second, then held on to both when he somehow secured the third punt. The Packer sideline emptied as players surrounded the young man as all of them celebrated.
I picked up the Brewer game in progress after the Packers were done. It was a tough game for Milwaukee, losing 2 out of 3 to the Washington Nationals, a team they should have beaten. It's been a rough spot for the Brew Crew and it won't get easier as Atlanta is up next. The Brewers still lead their division but its time to turn things around.

It was more of the same on Wednesday, but spent time working through details of the layout and selecting quotes to highlight.
I'm not sure if every state has a primary next Tuesday; Wisconsin has one. On the Democrat side of the ballot there are two candidates for the local Assembly seat, while on the Republican side there are three candidates fighting to see who will be up against the incumbent U.S. Senator; and two candidates battling to face the incumbent Congressman in November.
In the non-partisan part of the ballot, four people are running to become Dane County Executive and there are two statewide referendum questions that will decide whether the Governor can act during a Federal emergency to direct funds where needed or the state legislature should be consulted on now the money is used.
I see the appeal to the out-of-power party when it comes to Governor, but when things eventually turn and the party supporting these question has their person in the Governor's seat, they will not want to delay distributing resources to those who need it. This seems short-sighted and something that will create more division, not less. I plan to vote no to both. There will still be more than two months before political ads go silent.
The ads have been hot and heavy on both sides for nearly a year now - I'd bet we could get a majority of people to vote 'mute' on the ear pollution until November 6.
Thursday morning I worked on laying out the appeal letter - finding places for quotes from employees and getting the package to fit the available space.
In the afternoon I helped with our rickshaws, giving rides to residents. This year there is another volunteer pilot so we are able to give twice the rides. It was a perfect day for it, warm not hot, with the sun peeking around the clouds.
That same afternoon, the Milwaukee Brewers, who stumbled into Atlanta on Tuesday for a three-game series, did turn things around by finishing a sweep of the Atlanta Braves, winning decisively. There's no telling what that does for them as they go back to American Family Field for a stretch of home games, I hope they put some momentum on their plane to Milwaukee,.
Friday was the first time in a month I worked a full five-day week. The week after next, I'll do it again! It wasn't tough doing a whole week, but the short weeks are relaxing.
I hope your week earned you a gold medal - may your next seven days be wonderful!
