My Week that Was - March 30

There wasn't much left by Sat. afternoon. dwm
The new week started with just a trace of the latest snow on the ground - it made a nice contrast against green grass under blue skies dotted with fluffy clouds.

After a late breakfast, I stopped at Best Buy for a charging cable then at Kohl's where I bought two dress shirts. The tag on the shirts said wrinkle resistant.

After a trip through the washer and dryer I would say their resistance was low. At least one shirt went over to the dark side.

Four days of basketball made for a yawning Monday morning. I survived thanks to Diet Mt. Dew.

I made my first Amazon return. The charging cable I bought wasn't what I expected, it had C-plugs on each end instead of a regular USB at one end and the C-plug at the other. It was an easy process, getting a QR-code then dropping the cables at Whole Foods which, since it's owned by Amazon, has a return counter. Easy-peasy.

Wednesday I was part of an email etiquette class put on by our Human Resources department.  Much of it was basic writing structure and suggestions on how to write in present tense.

The instructor emphasized taking a break before hitting send on an email that you write when upset. A few minutes away can prevent you from sending something that could create a lot of trouble.

Over the noon hour, a fundraising organization in which I'm a member announced the location of next year's conference. It's returning to Myrtle Beach in February.

Thursday our team met to discuss the companies we considered for our constituent relationship software.  The process started last fall and it was time to decide. It was unanimous. Now the work begins to finalize the contract and moving our data from one system to another.

I took the day off Good Friday. We found a church with mid-day service. While a solemn day and worship there is an undercurrent of joy because we already know the ending. In his sermon, the pastor noted that in Matthew's Gospel, the Roman guard observing Jesus' crucifixion realized what he witnessed, saying "Surely this was the Son of God."

The afternoon was spent at home. Because it rained in New York City Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewer's opening day was Friday, and my plucky team earned a 3 - 1 win. Go Brewers!

The rest of Wisconsin's teams didn't fare so well, the Badger men's hockey team lost in overtime and were knocked out of the Championship tournament.

Marquette was the second best team in the South Region of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. They won the first two handily over Western Kentucky and Colorado.

The up-start Wolf Pack from North Carolina State came in on a seven game winning streak, winning five in a row during their conference tournament to qualify, then reached the Sweet Sixteen with two exciting wins. They led the Golden Eagles most of the way, holding off a Marquette rally with three minutes to play.

It will be interesting to see how North Carolina State does in their Elite Eight game tomorrow, if they win, they move on to the Final Four!

I hope your bracket is still intact - have a great week!
