Day Trippin'

Collectivo at the Foundry. 1/26/24 dwm
We spent much of Friday in Milwaukee.  The first stop was Collectivo Coffee on South First Street.  My wife loves coffee and these shops are on her list of favorites.

While she enjoyed the shop I took in the National Bobblehead Museum.  There will be more on the museum Tuesday.

A few blocks away in the city's Third Ward is the Milwaukee Public Market.  It's a symbol and center of this revitalized area of the city.

The Milwaukee River flows past buildings on its way to Lake Michigan.  A riverside walk around the city harbor and shores of the rivers is replacing factories with retail shops, bars, restaurants, and multi-family housing.

The Market sits on the city's train called The Hop. It passed by me on the corner of North Water Street and East St. Paul Avenue.

Inside the Milwaukee Market there are a number of stores, shops, and eateries. It our second time in the Market.  There were fewer people in the market this time which made it easier to check out the shops.

Pre-Covid one of our favorite spots in Milwaukee was Historic Greendale. It's a community with an interesting collection of shops downtown.

A couple of our favorite stores aren't open any more and it was January so even though it was warm, it didn't compare to strolling the street in July.

We decided to try lunch at a place with a sign saying it was a bakery and deli.  It may not have been a good time to try it or perhaps they short-handed but we had a disappointing lunch.

Fortunately an ice cream shop was open across the street. There is nothing wrong with ice cream for lunch on your anniversary.

After the walk around Greendale we had one more stop before driving home.  For the end of January it was a good day - while there was light rain it was too warm to become ice and close enough to sprinkles that we weren't soaked.
