My Week that Was - December 16

Ornaments on our 2023 tree. 12/10/23 dwm
No Wisconsin football this week but there was basketball and volleyball.

After several impressive games, the Badgers visited #$1 Arizona.  They played with them for much of the first half before the Wildcats started looking like a top team and ran Wisconsin off the floor.

Back in Madison, the Badger Volleyball team advanced to the Regional Finals of the NCAA tournament and advanced to the Final Four, defeating Oregon 3 sets to 1.  Wisconsin won it all in 2021.  It would be great to see them win a second title down in Florida this weekend.

The Packers didn't play until Monday so I worked on several blog posts Sunday afternoon.  It's a holiday series with thoughts on a variety of items or experiences related to the holiday.

As it turned out, Green Bay didn't seem ready to play on Monday night as we squandered a number of opportunities to beat the Giants, losing 24 - 22 on a field goal as time expired.  The Pack is now 6 - 7 with four games to play, if they want to reach the post-season they better win at least three games.

Over the first three days of the week I made 40 calls to donors, thanking them for their support throughout the year.  It's nice to get the opportunity to say thanks for their support.  There is a long list of generous donors, the goal is to reach as many as possible before the end of the year.

Wednesday morning we had a team celebration breakfast.  My wife served as the caterer and our place the diner for brunch, good conversation, and the opportunity to thank my colleagues for their excellent work.

Thursday was another busy day, making 30 calls and meeting with a vendor.  I also had a column due for campus newsletters and made enough progress on the first draft I should be able to turn them in Monday.

Friday morning it was time to return to the Red Cross to give blood.  There is still an urgent need for blood, unfortunately, there wasn't a line of people lined up to give.  A couple of us were there as whole-blood donors and probably a dozen or so people giving platelets.  If you're eligible to give, please consider rolling up your sleeve.

My experience went well with a pretty clean 'stick,' and I was done giving in 5 minutes and 5 seconds, after time in the canteen, I was on my way back to work.  It was a productive week with a lot of calls and wrapping up a couple of ads to run on the in-house TV channel.   There are just two weeks left in 2023, we're hoping for a strong finish.

I hope you have a great week!
