My Week that Was - November 25

My week started with a shopping trip to use up a gift card before attending a memorial service for an Oakwood resident I was privileged to know.

It was also the penultimate week of the college football season.  For the Wisconsin Badgers, the week was an opportunity to prove they were better than what the prior two games indicated.

The last home game of the season was at night against Nebraska.  Win and the UW would extend its streak of post-season bowl games to 22.  Lose and the streak is in peril and another streak, of consecutive winning seasons, ends at 21.

The Badgers displayed more grit and spirit Saturday over a longer period than any game this year since a close game with Ohio State (ranked in the top 5 of college teams).  The Badgers will go bowling.  Win again later today and they reclaim Paul Bunyan's Axe from the University of Minnesota and nudge the streak of winning seasons to 22.

Sunday the Green Bay Packers tried to break a losing streak and earn their fourth win of the season when the Los Angeles Chargers came to Lambeau Field.

The Packers lost a week earlier but showed signs that some aspects of the game might be slowing down for the youngest team in the National Football League.

It was nice to see the offense put 23 points on the board as quarterback Jordan Love had his best day as a pro.  They held on to beat the Chargers and get their 4th win.

There's no time to celebrate with a game Thursday between Green Bay and division foe Detroit.

When it's a short work week it can be difficult to get things rolling because the end of the week is upon you from the start.  I tried to get a couple of items off the books before trying to finish another small task before moving to the next.

Wednesday went by quick with letters to print, sign, and mail plus phone calls and making progress on a couple projects.  It's a bit of a challenge working on Wednesday when it feels like Friday.

That evening we went to church for a Thanksgiving Eve service.  While each worship is to give thanks, it's a good reminder before the holiday about who blesses us.

We had a quiet holiday at home, so I took advantage of free time to participate in the Berbee Derby.  You can see and read about it tomorrow.

After the run, I cleaned up and put on Packer gear for the first game of an NFL triple-header.  The Packers took it to Detroit from the kick-off, coming out of the Motor City with a convincing 29 - 22 win over the division leader.  It was the best game yet (yes, better than last Sunday) for quarterback Jordan Love and the first time other parts of the team were playing their best games as well.

Green Bay has now won 3 of 4 games and look like they could earn an opportunity to make the play-offs.

Black Friday was nice - sunny but colder than the day before.  The only stores I walked in were no busier than any other day.  After my morning workout and buying stamps, I bought fresh donuts at Miller's Supermarket and filled with gas at Kwik Trip before returning home.  It was a wonderful day, highlighted with the Wisconsin Volleyball team defeating top-ranked Nebraska before the NCAA playoffs begin November 30.

It's been a great week, thankful for time to relax and re-group; I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.
