My Week that Was - October 28

Madison across Monona Bay. 10/21/23 dwm
My week started with two days of riding and finishing office work so acknowledgement and appeal letters could get out on time.

It was a quiet weekend with no public interaction, pending the results of a Covid test Monday.

Green Bay's offense didn't get to Denver until the second half but despite taking a fourth quarter lead, they lost to the Broncos by a single point.

Denver is considered one of the worst teams in the league.  So what do you think losing to the worst team means?  It means you aren't very good and with 2 wins and 4 losses, we fit that description.

The happy news received at 6:15 Monday a.m.
Monday morning I opened the Covid-19 test kit, swabbed my nose for the appropriate amount of time then placed it into the solution and waited for a result. It was negative.  We were both negative, meaning we could back to our normal lives.

I was happy to return to the office.  If I hadn't been able to work in person, four appointments and a meeting was going to be cancelled.

The big accomplishment this week was wrapping up the draft phase of our year-end appeal.  Unless something comes up, it should be on schedule to mail in three weeks.

Wednesday I tried a new place down the street from Oakwood called Dave's Hot Chicken.  I like some level of heat but after trying the #1 item on the menu I'm not a hot chicken kind of guy.  The light mild version of the chicken tenders was good.  I didn't feel a burn but the heat wasn't out until I had a bowl of ice cream for dessert.

Thursday became a work-ahead day, with time spent planning the Foundation booth at the employee's health and benefit fair.  It's a two day opportunity to share information with team members on what donors do for campus and how they can become donors as well.

The Bucks opened their season Thursday evening at home against the 76ers..  Milwaukee has one of the best players in the world, Giannis Antetokounmpo who led the Bucks to a title in 2021. Just before the season started, they traded for Damian Lillard, another top 75 player in the league which puts them among a handful of teams with a good chance to win a championship.

One noteworthy item this week came from Kwik Trip  Just over a week-ago their rewards program and card payments went off-line.  It was just over a week before life at Kwik Trip was back to normal.  When the miniature nightmare was over, we wondered how Wisconsin's favorite store would respond.

We weren't disappointed.  Kwik Trip was able to count most of the visits while the system was done, then decided to award points based on our usual schedule of visit, and ten days of earning two visits for every trip through the door..

I appreciated their efforts - which ranged from buy one - get one free offers for candy to coupons for customers of a certain age to get a free can of beer.

It was a productive week, starting with what were likely my last rides of the season and getting another letter to the print house so it can stay on schedule.  I hope your coming week is productive too!
