My Fearless Forecast - Green Bay

It's difficult to know how the 2023 version of the Green Bay Packers will look on the field and whether they are ready in the first year where the quarterback isn't wearing Favre or Rodgers across his back.

It's time for Love in Green Bay.

Will the Love Era extend the thirty years of top quarterbacking or will it be a reminder of seasons with Scott Hunter, John Hadl, or Don Majkowski?

I don't know.  I do know Packer General Manager Brian Gutekunst knows more about judging football talent and building a team than I do.  I believe Matt LaFleur is a good coach.  I think the roster of Packer players is talented enough to win more than it loses and reach the play-offs.  It's possible this young team (average age 25) isn't ready for prime time and needs 17 games to find its identity that will return to its winning ways in 2024.

Schedule from packers.com

The Packers begin the season in Chicago, ending it on the home field playing the Bears for a second time.  Green Bay leads the all-time series, including postseason, with 105 wins, 95 losses, and six ties.  While a lot of pundits see Green Bay as a bottom-dweller without Aaron Rodgers, others predict making the play-offs.  If this team is playing the second week of January, they need to win this game.

After game one, I think they split the next four games and arrive at an early bye week 3 - 2.

In the middle six weeks of the season, they beat the Broncos, Rams, and Chargers and find themselves on Thanksgiving night with 6 wins, 5 losses.

For the final six games, I expect Green Bay to be play their best ball beating the Bears (sweeping the season 2-game set) to finish the season 10 and 7.  In most years ten wins earns a ticket to the post-season, that will make a lot of curious fans, including this one, very happy.  Go Pack, Go!
