Make Gratitude Your Attitude

It's World Gratitude Day, a time to express thanks and appreciation.

An interesting thing about 'thank yous' is that it can be as difficult to accept thanks as giving thanks for something you receive.

We say thank you dozens, if not hundreds, of times each day; but do we connect with giver and offer our gratitude with sincerity?

I'm a believer in thank you notes.  A short, sincere gesture delivers more meaning than the most elegant email ever could.  A hand-written note in the 21st century says thanks and that the receiver was worth spending the time to spell it out.

It feels good to say thank you, even if it can seem insufficient at the time.  Thank you isn't returning equal value, it is sharing a feeling.

The first world-wide Gratitude Day was held in 1966 after coming to life a year earlier.

You don't need to use fancy words or grand phrases - just look the person in the eye and thank them, maybe tell them what you plan to do as a result of their action, then do it.  Who knows, you might be thanked when you do.
