Ferry Night

Colsac III crosses at night. 8/26/23
One thing we haven't done since moving back to Wisconsin is cross the Wisconsin River at night on the Merrimac Ferry.  Now we have.

The sun set maybe 15-minutes before we got to the landing on the south side of the Wisconsin River.  The ferry was letting cars off its deck to continue south on Wisconsin Highway 113 then it was our turn.

Looking down river there were still signs of daylight as darkness took over the evening.  It was twilight time.

We stopped the car in the middle of the center lane, shut off the motor and got out to enjoy the evening air.

Many passengers their phones out to record the final moments of the sun, looking out over the water at the final natural colors we'd see Saturday.

On this crossing, the trip was the destination.  We got off the ferry, drove a block north then turned around for the ride back.

The ice cream stands were open on both landings but after a filling dinner everyone in our car to leave the sweet treats while waiting for the Colsac III to complete another round trip before taking us back.

The ferry was nearly full on our return trip with vehicles in all three lanes but this time most folks stayed in their cars instead of walking the deck.  I took a few more shots, trying to get the moon while avoiding the boat's spotlights.  Then it was time to get behind the wheel, wait for the ramp to drop and head home.
