The light rain Saturday morning was supposed to usher in a day or two of possible rain but the clouds dried up and drifted east too quickly for much rain to fall.
I spent some time working on future blog posts Saturday before turning attention to the first of four Indiana Jones movies that came out before the more recent release. We watched the remaining three Sunday before going to the new movie.
Monday was a day off, so I went in later than usual and spent extra time on the treadmill. It was busier than usual for a quasi-holiday, which is what Monday was sitting between the weekend and a federal day off.
On the Fourth we spent a quiet day at home other than a trip for breakfast before it became hot. As it turned out it was the last trip for the car because when I pushed the button to close the garage door, a cable snapped and it wouldn't move.
Meanwhile, over in Michigan our youngest son had a medical issue that required surgery. Thankfully, he got quick medical attention and was recuperating later the same day. Thanks be to God for doctors and care-givers and his in-laws who were on hand to lend son and daughter-in-law a hand during that event.
Later that day, we watched a Capitol Fourth on PBS, enjoying the live concert and fireworks shown live from Washington D.C.
Back to work Wednesday and an abbreviated 3-day work week. There is plenty going on in the office. There are twice as many words as there is space for the upcoming newsletter, so editing is underway.
It's been several weeks since I last wrote about the Milwaukee Brewers. Lately the team has been doing better, winning seven of their last ten. There are two games left before the All-Star break against division leader Cincinnati. Milwaukee and the Reds have been neck-and-neck for most of the last two weeks - taking two of three games from Cincy would be a good idea since the first three games after the break will be played in the Queen City.

I had a conference to attend in Miami and my first concern was how I would find a place to watch the Packers. Thanks to the concierge, I was directed to a bar on South Beach. It was beautiful with warm breezes coming into the place. It was almost empty with no local team playing so it was easy to notice a a guy sitting at the bar with a Packer jersey. Not only that, as we introduced ourselves, we learned that back in Wisconsin our homes were less than 40 miles apart!
The short work week ended with a picnic on Oakwood's east campus. I volunteered to help with some of the event, clearing tables and picking up trash that missed the cans. In addition to BBQ and other entrees, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream had their truck scooping up frozen treats - I enjoyed two scoops - one cookie dough and the other Zanzibar, made with 3 types of chocolate. It was amazing!
I hope your next week is a great one!
