Welcome to the Summer of 2023!
We've been putting Covid-19 behind us for a while now but it is fair to say that this year finally feels like we've left the restrictions and worries behind us and resumed most of what was normal life.
In many places today is celebrated by making music as we have more hours, minutes, and seconds of any day the entire year. Some places further north use this week for overnight outdoor marathon events of continuous ballgames.
That's not the case in Wisconsin, although people get excited about more daylight. In Madison, we get sunlight for 15 hours, 22 minutes, 16 seconds. Drink it up, we lose 2 seconds tomorrow and will have lost1 minute, 46 seconds a month from now.
Mr Sun
"Here comes the sun," we shout
We're glad the clouds are gone.
Then he gets up in our face
And looks our way too long.
Heat and humidity are sure to come
When we'll show Mr. Sun the door.
