Spring is Here

It's the first day of spring!  That doesn't mean it instantly warms into the 60s or 70s with steady sun but it means the sun is moving north.

There wasn't a lot of standing snow during the winter but we had measurable snow virtually every week of 2023, including last week.

Spring doesn't mean the snow and cold is over, either.  The upside this time of year is that if it does snow, it doesn't last.

Some of the recent signs of spring: robins, goldfinches are turning yellow, and tiny buds are visible on trees.

We can look for early flowers to peek through the soil on the south sides of buildings where the ground warms the fastest.  We can keep our eyes out for unusual birds at the feeder which are heading north.  And we can grab the light jacket while putting the heavy winter coat back in the closet.

Spring is Here!

Four twenty four
Spring arrived
Winter's done til
December twenty-one.

It's a season to grow...
Bright green leaves
Red and yellow flowers
Rainy days and rainbows.

The earth is new again.
