Red Means Stop

Maybe this isn't a problem where you drive but I suspect it is and someone is going to get killed if we don't collectively learn why we have stoplights.

Just to review, green means go; yellow warn us to slow down or complete crossing the street; red means stop.

In the last few weeks, I've witnessed three vehicles cruise through a red light going faster than the posted limit.  Thankfully there weren't any accidents.

Look both ways when the light turns green before proceeding. This bothered me when we lived in Indianapolis, waiting fourth in line at a light seemed to take forever for cars to move, looking back, I suppose they were waiting for cross traffic to clear, while some were probably texting.

Yielding to traffic may not be required, it might save your life.  Something my dad often said went something like this, "You may be right but you'll be dead right."  That is truly the case when it comes to being wary of drivers who feel red means, "go really, really fast."

Maybe this is something our country can get behind, we could do some good and save lives by pausing before going when our light turns green.

The life you save could be yours.
