On Ice

The end of our driveway. 2/12/2023 dwm photo
A week ago, we got nearly seven inches of heavy, wet snow.  The following day it was melting.

The melted snow quickly froze overnight.  New melting the following day ran downhill, of course.

In some cases, like at the end of our driveway, as the sun set the temperatures dropped and froze it again.  Areas like the end of our driveway never see direct sun this time of year, so the ice isn't melting on its own.

2-inches deep at the center.
Since Sunday we've had several consecutive days at 40 or warmer and a solid rain on Tuesday which washed the ice melt down the road.

Today's forecast is for more snow and if it happens, it is likely to be another heavy snowfall.  Hopefully it won't pile-on the ice from last week's snow.

We're past mid-February so there aren't too many snows left in the season and the storms we do get won't stick around with warmer days and a closer sun to melt it away.

It's Wisconsin, so we know it won't be long before the blogs include descriptions of heat and torrential rain.  The weather constant is change.
