A Neighborly Place

Classic cars outside the Manypenny Bistro
I ate at the ManyPenny Bistro three times during our four day stay in Bayfield.

The first night we ordered carry-out pizza.  The following two mornings, I was there for breakfast.

From our hotel to the Manypenny was a three block walk.  It would have taken longer to drive.

I got there early, paid for the pizza, then waited for the order.  The pizza was very good and filling after a long-day of driving and taking in the sights.

For breakfast I was looking for something simple, filling, and reasonably priced.  In a quick online search of the places around town open at 7 am, the Manypenny was the place to go.

My order, oatmeal and buttered toast, hit the spot.  The ambience of this cafe/bar carry-out or eat in restaurant was the perfect.

If there were other tourists there at the early hour, they were folks who made spending time in Bayfield a habit.  The banter between guests and servers was free and easy.

A group of people gathered at a large table, they were either friends with a shared for Ford Model A cars.  During our stay we frequently saw four Model A's driving in the country or parked outside local restaurants.

ManyPenny has a relaxed atmosphere.  Guests can read the latest news on their phone or catch up with their neighbor.  I enjoyed it.  It was relaxed and authentic, a perfect example of what city leaders are trying to preserve by keeping the shops locally owned and managed.   For me, that is the great taste of Bayfield.
