Autumnal Equinox

 It's Fall!

That means it is even-Steven between the north and south hemisphere with each half of the globe getting the same amount of sunshine.

Days continue getting shorter, which they have been doing since Summer Solstice, and the reduction of the sun's rays are the trigger for leaves to change color.

It's the best season of the year.

There are years when fall sneaks upon you with few clues.  Other times it starts dramatically.  That seems likely this year as Wisconsin expects parts of the state to reach lows in the 40s and even 30s tonight.

A few days ago it felt hot as thermometers neared 80.  Tonight I bet some homes have their furnace on.

Summer Leaves

Summer is the life of the party.
It struts and boasts
'Am I hot or WHAT!'

There is one too many
 Over-heated moments
Losing its cool.

It's embarrassing.
Like a friend who can't stop
Or know when to leave.

Autumn is here.
Calm. Cool. Collected.
A flash of color but
Nothing over the top.

Fall is the perfect guest
Except she usually gives up
Her seat to the next guest
All too soon.
