Summer Time, Summer Time

Union Terrace, Wisconsin 8/4/2021 dwm

4:13 AM Central Daylight Time, the summer solstice occurred.  That's when the north pole reached its maximum tilt toward the sun.

Most people celebrate the summer solstice by trying to use every second of daylight.  In Madison, it's "Make Music Madison" day with scores of musical events happening across the city.

The sun rises at 5:18 (1:05 after the arrival of the solstice) and sets at 8:40 tonight, a grand total of 15 hours, 22 minutes, and 16 seconds of daylight.

We lose three seconds tomorrow and will keep losing daylight until December 21 when the pole reaches its maximum tilt away from the sun.

In the meantime, there are 93 days of summer.  That's a lot of time for adventure, fun, swimming, boating, biking, fishing, and anything which suits your fancy.

One thing is certain, it should be the best, most care-free summer since 2019!

Solsticing

 Sun doesn't set during solstice
North in the Arctic Circle.
It's not as disruptive further south
But days go on and on.

Sleeping in is hard to do
When light creeps in at 4:42.

Get up early, stay up late
Time's a-wasting.
In just a month
An hour, forty-seven will be gone.

Get out, have fun, it won't last long...
Enjoy!
