Stormy Weather

The feels like temperature the last two days topped 100 degrees.  In addition to being unseasonably warm, it is more humid than usual, a combination that scores high on the misery index.

The silver lining is the cooler and drier conditions today and into the weekend.

Two days of storms in our area did involuntary tree trimming as well as damaged homes and businesses - some severely.

While the extreme heat is an early arrival, the spring storms brewed up in the cauldron of high heat and humidity are par for the course.

Over-reacting to storm forecasts or radar reports doesn't help but it is a good practice to pay attention to surroundings and being aware of storm cells and where they're heading.

Most of the time there is nothing to worry about and when there is, there may not be much warning so it is up to us to react and take shelter.

Judging by last night's line of storms, we're just getting started with solar-powered thunder and lightning.

There are many weeks to come.

Be aware.  Be alert.  Be storm safe.
