My Week that Was - June 4

Saturday morning after a workout and bike ride, we drove to the Decatur Dairy near Brodhead for one of their incredibly delicious grilled cheese sandwiches.

I went with the On Wisconsin which is a delightful combination of Beer Cheese and Mustard Cheese.  It is a creamy golden ooze of goodness.

After lunch, we decided were too close to Janesville it was worth a drive for a treat from Frostie Freeze on West Court street.

I had a small chocolate chip malt, amazing.

Sunday after church we made our first trip to a movie theater since the beginning of Covid-19.  My wife is a big fan of Downton Abbey, so we watched the second movie about the big English house, Downton Abbey: A New Era.

First time back.
You don't need to be a regular watcher of the program shown on public TV in America to enjoy the film.  It's a nice movie, perfectly suited for an adult date night.

The movie was still playing on the weekend reserved for the second Top Gun. I suspect those theaters had bigger crowds than the small group watching Abbey with us.  At this point and with two boosters on board, I wasn't worried but was glad not to be sitting shoulder to shoulder for two hours.

It was a good time, whetting our appetite to re-start trips to the movies.

Monday we had breakfast at Grace Coffee.  It's a new store in Verona with several stores around Madison.  I ordered the Cinnamon streusel french toast.  It was good and filling.

June started Wednesday, the second day of a short work-week.  It was nice getting three-days off and get back to the office.

It seems like a long-road back to normal at Oakwood but progress is being made one cautious step at a time.  In-person live events are back on the schedule.

Lovely weather followed a short stint of hot days.  Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were practically perfect with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.  Thursday I took one of our independent living residents on a rickshaw ride.  It was their first time on the three wheel bike and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

You should have had a donut yesterday as Friday was National Donut day.  While fried or baked dough with frosting is worth celebrating, the day actually recognizes the Salvation Army and the women who volunteered during World War I to serve donuts to the troops.

The fry-cakes were cooked in oil in the metal helmets of the American soldiers, who, coincidentally, were called doughboys.

The week ended on a good note with several projects closed at the office and a busy calendar for the next one.  I hope your week goes well!
