A Brewer's Update

56 games into the season, the Milwaukee Brewers are 10 games above .500 and are coming off their worst stretch of the season losing 6 of the last 10 games.

I think the team is in a good place.

Two starters come off the disabled list for tonight's game.

Pitching is a strong suit for the Brewers with a couple young arms (Ashby and Small) appearing to be at least a short-term answer.

Manager Craig Counsell is two victories from becoming the all-time leader in wins.  Since he took the reins in 2015, the home-grown skipper has proven to have the right touch when it comes to leading a team over a long season and navigating unexpected twists and turns.

Barrel man is an early team mascot.
The team, assembled by President of Baseball Operations, David Stearns, is a mix of young and experienced players.  They've avoided long losing streaks and their best days are ahead.  As is the case with most teams, the Brew Crew needs to get and stay healthy and take advantage of what seems to be a better schedule over the next 106 games.

Fan expectations for the Brewers are high.  I remember a lot of seasons where I hoped the team could stay in contention until the Green Bay Packers reported to training camp.  Now most of us supporting the home-team expect the team to contend year-in and year-out, develop young talent and play smart baseball.

Twelve of the next 22 games are in American Family Field.  There are even two days off over the next 21 days, which seems good compared to the 18 games in 17 days the Crew just finished 9 - 9.

It's a fair stretch and time for Milwaukee to get on a roll.  Let's go, Brewers!
